after a big week of ups and downs (i mean figuratively and literally as we went from dry dock and back into the water) i managed to sneak away with a fellow crew member for a drive to cala figuera - an idyllic fishing village located 60km south east of palma.
with spring and its blooms in full swing, this bustling fishing village and harbour was full up with locals on a particularly sunny sunday. this spot, having been left largely untouched by mass commercialisation is still authentic complete with its white washed houses, fishermen mending thire nets, an aptly placed lighthouse all overlooking the turquoise balearic sea.
although brief, today was not without its perks - que. grilled seafood plate, cold beers and an epic view - we will certainly be back but this time with a picnic and our swimsuits in toe.
